So, for all of you who think that your little one could never pull the wool over your eyes here is a story for you. December 18th 2008 I go to pick up Payce after school. He walks to the car holding a napkin on his face. So of course I ask what happened. Now realizing that he is bleeding and has a huge fat lip I ask again what happened. He responds "some kid bunched me and ran off." Like any mom I immediately took him by the hand and marched him to the principals office. There I demanded that they take some sort of responsibility for what had happened to my little baby boy. "He's only 6" I tell the Vice-Principal, "kids shouldn't be aloud to run free like animals after school and beat people up and not be help accountable." The principal says, "well unless he know who did it there is nothing we can do about it." Take note that while she is telling me this she shrugged her shoulders at me. Which in turn makes me furious and I go from speaking as calmly as I could do being loud and angry..... My response is " what do I have to call the police to get you guys to care and do something about it. These small town schools are all the same if you don't have an important name you don't matter. I have never had a problem with any school in the last 6 years that I have had kids in school." Again she says there is nothing they can do and that I will have to help him figure out who it was. So, I leave the school just fuming mad. I call Jory and tell him what happened he suggest just calling the police and making a report so then at least we have that right. So when we get home I call and have an officer come to the house. He takes his little report and asks Payce a few questions takes a picture of his swollen lip and leaves. The night goes on and I am still just so angry I could scream; I make dinner and get it on the table for the kids and then I go in my room to talk to one of my friends on the phone uninterrupted. When I come out from my long venting session Riley comes to me and says "mom I know how did it, he has earrings and his brother goes to my school and they are really big jerks." I start thinking to myself I hope Riley hasn't talked Payce into it being someone that it wasn't. I ask Payce to come into the kitchen alone so that I can talk to him.
Me: "Payce it's really important that you remember if the boy how did this has earrings or not because we really don't want to get someone in trouble if it wasn't them. Not very many boys wear earrings."
Payce: "I don't remember if he did. I think he didn't"
Me: " Well do you remember what color his shirt was?"
Payce- " It was green"
Me- "What about his coat and backpack?"
Payce- " I didn't see his coat and I don't think he had a backpack."
Me- "What color what his hair, eyes, skin?"
Payce- " His hair is short and blond, he is the same color as me, I don't know what his eyes look like though."
Then there is a long pause because I can see that he is really thinking hard about this mysterious bully that punched him in the face.....
Then he says with a straight face " In my head I slipped and hit the ground...In my head."
Me- "YOU WHAT?????"
Payce- " I slipped mom, I hit my mouth on the snowy mud."
Me- " Are you kidding me?? No one hit you??"
Of course at this point he thinks that he is dead meat and he is! I was so surprised that he told me this big old fish tale and in the end there was no bully just him and the slippery ground. And to top it off my little darling was wearing a green shirt and didn't have his backpack with his short blond hair and his skin that is the same as his!! Wow, what a storyteller he is! The next day I took him to the principal so he could tell her the truth and then to the police station. The Richfield police department got a good laugh out of it!! The End!

Wow, I guess he just didn't want you to think that he was clumsy. That is pretty funny that he told you that the kid looked just like him.
