Cove Fort with the 2nd graders!

We had a lot of fun at Cove Fort last week! The weather was so nice, it was a great day for a field trip! I rode their with a few of the ladies from our ward since they didn't have enough bus space to let the parents ride. In fact they were lucky to get a field trip this year due to there small budget. We were really glad to be able to go. Each group had a guide through the different areas of the grounds.. We saw the barn first and then the blacksmith shop. The Blacksmith shop was the most interesting to the boys! We saw how they used to catch mice in one of the cabins and then watched a movie about when and why the fort was built! Then we got to go through the Fort. Since there were 7 2ND grade classes and about 25 kids in each class we didn't have as much time as we would have liked to have to see all of the rooms of the fort. Even though we were short with time the guides did a very good job to tell us what each room was and explain a few of the items in them and who used to stay in them. We are hoping to plan a family day to go and spend more time at the fort and learn more about its history!

2nd grade is so much fun! The kids are so interested in what's going on and how it all works together. They have such a fascination for everything!
